Food Hygiene Certificates

The legal requirement for medical certification of food handlers should be used as an opportunity to promote personal and food handling hygiene, and to emphasize the importance of illness reporting. The primary focus in the prevention of the spread of food-borne pathogens should be:

  • Good personal hygiene
  • Clean protective clothing
  • Hygienic food handling practices
  • Effective supervision of the health of employees with timely medical intervention when appropriate.
Our food handlers’ medical focuses on ruling out the following signs:
  • Fever
  • Jaundice
  • Skin infection on hands, arms, face
  • Boils, styes or septic finger
  • Discharge from eye, ear or nose Oral infection

We offer basic but comprehensive food handlers’ medicals which will indicate that the individual is not, at that point in time, suffering from any impediment to employment as a food handler on public health grounds. It should be noted that Medical certification cannot declare an individual free of medical considerations for the future and therefore we would even suggest that the medical be redone at some other point throughout the year, in order to maintain the high standards that your company already upholds.
